I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN TEXAS.
It's my home. And there's something about that place that still seems so uniquely rugged and lawless, a pervasive spirit that has been around since American settlements began to explode in the early 1800s. Sometimes it feels like you are completely on your own. With SARATOGA LIGHTS, I explored these feelings of loneliness and lawlessness and the result is a deeply personal (and really, really cool) Texas noir. It's about the loss of faith and the loss of lovers and the loss of life, and the painful, excruciating process of rebuilding and breaking through the malaise of a seemingly wasted life. How does one move on from the person they once were, and transform into someone greater? SARATOGA LIGHTS is about redemption. It's also my love letter to the Westerns I was raised with. It's a love letter to the place I call home, the people I know, and to the writers and directors who inspired me as a young, impressionable film fan.

IT HAS TO HAVE HEART.
SARATOGA LIGHTS, in its current iteration, represents nearly a decade of collaboration with some of the most amazing people in the industry. It represents hours of late nights, long drives, and raucous laughter. It represents sacrifice, courage and change, both good and bad. It comes from our hearts. It’s a story of love and loss. It speaks to our friendship, our fears, and our inner demons. We were all inspired by the intangibles and world building of creators like the Coen Brothers and Denis Villeneuve. We set out to build our own world. One which reflects our vision and our passion.
And we did.
